Derek Slater is a Service Advisor for our Fifth Gear Automotive shop in Lewisville, Texas.
He has worked in the industry for 7 years and has been with our Fifth Gear family for a little over 1 year.
Derek, originally from Lewisville, Texas has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Derek, who is engaged to be married is also a father to 3 children, Jadyn, Logan, and Cade.

Derek works hard daily to not only build but maintain customer relationships. Derek strives to make sure that the whole customer experience is met with the highest standards.

In a quick interview, we asked Derek a series of questions to better get to know him!

If you can only pick one colleague to take on a trip to Cancun, who would you take and why?  

Tim Edwards- We would cause so much trouble together; it would be a blast.

What is your spirit animal and why? 

Spider Monkey because, you know… Spider Monkey!

Who or where would you haunt if you were a ghost? 

I would haunt my children.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be? 

Cheeseburger, preferably from Good Burger.

What is your favorite type of music? 

I enjoy Rock.

Cats or dogs?  I love them both.

What makes you feel old?  My busted knees

Favorite sport or team?  I’m a big college football fan and love my Sooners!

 

Favorite vacation spot?  I enjoy long walks on the beach, so pretty much any beach.

What is the weirdest tradition your family has?  We enjoy wearing our pajamas on Christmas day.

Cannonball or jackknife?  I consider myself to be a master diver since I lived in Hawaii for 7 years. So I prefer backflips off my boogie board.

Weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?  I’ve enjoyed a shark from time to time.

If everything in your house had to be one color what color would you choose?  OD Green, no reason.

BBQ or Mexican Food?  BBQ, always. 

If you could talk to any animal which one would it be?  My yellow lab, Chain. I got the feeling he has really, deep, thoughts.

What period would you go back in time to visit?  Wild West days, like that Will Smith movie, Wild Wild West.

Would you rather have to give up permanently salts or sweets? Sweets, can’t give up my roasted salt peanuts.

Rollercoasters yes or no?  Yes, fun story, I once road the Texas Giant….that’s it.

Do you collect anything?  Die-Cast Mustang cars, I spent a lot of time in the house.

What was your first job?  Flipping burgers at Burger King.

Favorite dessert?  Carrot Cake goes great with milk.

Who is the smartest person you know, besides Sean the marketing manager?  Jake Spaulding- One of my former soldiers

Favorite holiday?  Christmas, because Santa is always good to me. You stop believing, you stop receiving. Write that down.
