(2008 Porsche Cayenne Engine Replacement)
Porsche Cayenne Engine Swap
The owner of this 2008 Porsche Cayenne had it towed over to us for the first time after it suffered catastrophic engine failure at 71,494 miles. The crankcase vent valve in the Air/Oil Separator, which is integrated into the valve cover, had failed and not been replaced for so long that eventually it reached the point where it caused oil to be sucked into the combustion chamber from the top, damaging the piston rings and increasing the amount of “blow-by”. The owner of the car noticed that it was consuming a lot of oil and the check engine light was turned on, but a different repair shop misdiagnosed the issue. Eventually, the 3.6 liter V6 engine became “liquid locked” and totally inoperable.

Fortunately, we were able to find a recycled engine with a lot fewer miles and a warranty to replace the failed one with. Start to finish, we had the entire job completed in under 2 days and at a third of the cost he was quoted by another shop.
