Driving Innovation: Fifth Gear Automotive Sponsors UNT’s Mean Green Racing Team

At Fifth Gear Automotive Repair – Argyle, we believe in investing in the future, and that means supporting the next generation of innovators, engineers, and leaders. That’s why we’re proud to announce our sponsorship of the University of North Texas (UNT) Mean Green Racing team, a student-led organization making a major impact in the world of automotive engineering.

Mean Green Racing is more than just a racing team, it’s a launchpad for future engineers. This student organization gives its members real-world experience in automotive design, manufacturing, and innovation. Each year, the team designs and builds a formula-style race car from the ground up to compete in the SAE International Formula Series, going head-to-head with elite universities from around the globe. The team’s participation in this high-level competition equips members with hands-on skills and the technical knowledge needed to thrive in today’s automotive and engineering industries.

In addition to their racing program, Mean Green Racing also operates as a full-fledged automotive engineering research, design, and manufacturing firm within the university. Members take on roles that mirror those in professional engineering environments, gaining vital experience in project management, systems design, manufacturing techniques, and collaborative problem-solving.

At Fifth Gear Automotive Repair, being career-minded is one of our core cultural pillars. We value education, innovation, and the power of mentorship, and the Mean Green Racing team reflects all of those values. By fostering the skills, confidence, and leadership potential of UNT students, the team is building the kind of future professionals our industry needs.

To support their incredible efforts, our Fifth Gear Automotive Repair family proudly contributed $1,000 to help fund their projects, competitions, and educational pursuits. It’s our way of giving back to a program that truly embodies passion, precision, and purpose.

We’re excited to watch the Mean Green Racing team continue to innovate and compete, and we’re honored to play a small part in their journey.
