Cory working with our technicians.

Cory is a Service Advisor for our Fifth Gear Automotive shop in Argyle, Texas. Since the moment Cory has joined the team he has been a workhorse in going above and beyond to not only meet but exceed customer expectations. Today we wanted to take a moment to introduce him to all our Fifth Gear Automotive family!

We took the time to sit down and talk with Cory a little bit. Remember, to read the interviewer’s questions in Morgan Freeman’s voice.

Cory, thank you so much for taking a moment to sit down and visit with us. We are hoping to learn a little more about what makes Cory, Cory. So let’s jump in!

So what brought you to Fifth Gear Automotive? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

You know, I really love the values and characteristics Fifth Gear Automotive holds as a company. We work hard during the week so we can have our weekends off for our families, and I think that is an amazing aspect of our company. I also enjoy the professionalism and the opportunity to work for a company I can grow and advance in.

Cory, we couldn’t agree more. Fifth Gear strives to challenge every employee to continue striving to meet our 5 gears. Career-minded, Always growing, and family focus is three of those 5 Gears that we have set at our foundation. So, we couldn’t agree more with you. With that said, where do you see yourself in 10 years? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

I truly hope it is still here with Fifth Gear Automotive. Times are exciting with Fifth Gear and we all are excited about the future goals that our ownership and leadership have laid out for us.

That’s great Cory, we have no doubt that you won’t achieve that goal. Now, let’s get a little deeper and dive into the tough questions. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Well, It’s funny you asked that. A lot of people don’t know that in my downtime I’m an Alligator hunter. Yup, I like to travel down to Louisiana and hunt and cook Alligators. Eating Alligator became a passion for me in the late 90’s when I was studying to become the next Steve Irwin.

I see, that’s definitely a challenging hobby you have there. You be careful, you hear? Moving on, are you into sports? Do you have any favorite teams? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Absolutely, I am actually a die-hard US Women’s soccer supporter. They just play with such passion, how can you not support them. In the next women’s world cup I intend to travel to every US women’s match in Australia & New Zealand!

Gotcha. Moving forward Mr. Cory, what makes you feel old these days? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Well, every morning when I change out of my “Save by the Bell” PJ pants I get frustrated that they just haven’t filmed a new season in a long time. It’s just not fair.

We understand that Cory, life isn’t fair sometimes. Learning that definitely shows old age and maturity. Let’s talk music, got some favorites? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Actually yes, I enjoy rocking out to some Jazz, and man, that Kenny G can play one mean alto saxophone! I purchased one for myself a few years back. I have yet to perfect his aura but I’m working hard on the weekends and practicing in my garden gazebo.

There’s a mental image for you, haha. Good Stuff, Mr. Cory. What about your spirit animal. What animal do you believe defines you? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

This is a difficult question, and while I am leaning towards the Albino Squirrel, I think it’s safe to say I’m a River Otter. They are such sociable creatures that like to frolic and be merry. I think that defines me perfectly.

That’s just great, Mr. Cory. What about ghosts…..if you were a ghost who would you haunt? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

I often stare at Steven in the office and think about sneaking up behind him. He looks like a guy that I could scare. But if I was a ghost, I would definitely haunt Adam over in Lewisville. Adam looks like the kind of guy that would give me a good laugh in the afterlife.

I see you have put some thought into that. Great answer though, and yes, Adam is definitely a hoot. Kind of back to the animals though, if you could talk to one kind of animal, what kind would it be? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Well I have been known to be called “Cory, the Dog Whisperer.” People think that guy Ceasar is the one who whispers to dogs, but I assure you I whisper way more to dogs. Just last night I saw an Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog. He was standing by his front door and said…..”the human. brought frens over. one of them. forgot to pet me. as they entered. that human. has 30 seconds to rectify. the situation.” I laughed….. those dogs are so silly.

Great stuff and interesting that you have that kind of relationship with dogs. What about hobbies, collecting, what are you into? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

I have a fine collection of Susan B. Anthony quarters. When I ever I really want to have a crazy night, I get them out, and sprinkle some baking soda over them; then use a soft-bristled toothbrush to brush them clean. After I rinse them out thoroughly with hot water; using tongs or gloves to hold them to avoid burning my fingers. I then place them on a soft, cotton towel and leave to air dry. Always an enjoyable evening.

Sounds like you’re a busy man. How about holidays? What is your favorite? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Easy, Cinco De Mayo.

Ooook, well just leave that one alone. How about your favorite vacation spot? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Skaneateles Lake, New York. Skaneateles Lake is classified as ‘oligotrophic’, as it has low productivity due to low levels of nutrients. This helps keep algae and other aquatic vegetation to a minimum and keeps the water clear. So if you are a sailor, this is the place to come. Absolutely perfect.

That’s very educational Cory. How about when swimming, you prefer the Cannonball or the Jack Knife? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Great question. I have been dabbling in yoga. I am currently working on the Tree Pose. I’m confident that I could Cannonball into the pool doing the tree pose. I plan to pracitce next time I’m sailing at Skaneateles Lake in New York.

So Cory, often people want to know who is the smartest person you know, besides Sean the marketing manager, of course? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Ha, great question. Sean is definitely an intelligent man. However, if I really had to pick, my grandfather would get the nod. Well him and Jamie Stewart.

Last question, Mr. Cory. If you could take one colleague on an all-expense-paid vacation sponsored by your sales manager, who would you take and why? (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)

Easy, Micah. He’s got a fun attitude and just seems like the kind of guy you just need to know.

Thank you, Cory, you have been great. We all appreciate you taking the time to teach us more about yourself! (Morgan Freeman’s Voice)
